I am certified to teach yoga to pregnant women. I am not currently offering a class that is strictly prenatal, but I invite women in any stage of pregnancy to come to my regular, gentle classes. Let me know that you’re expecting (or trying to conceive) and I will support you in the following ways.
• Show you how to modify the yoga postures we do in class so they are safe for you and your baby.
• Coach you gently throughout class, as needed.
• Give you my prenatal yoga packet, which includes an explanation of the benefits of prenatal yoga, a list of recommended resources, a set of diagrams and instructions for home practice, some handouts that show you how to improve your comfort level while in labor, and an article on new motherhood.
I practiced yoga throughout my pregnancy – it was essential in helping me to remain comfortable and centered. I also used yoga postures throughout my 9 hours of labor. I credit my yoga practice for making it possible for me to give birth naturally.
Yoga is an ideal way to prepare yourself -- physically, mentally and emotionally -- for labor, birth and motherhood. A regular yoga practice can help reduce the discomforts generally associated with pregnancy, normalize your blood pressure, and bring your changing body into balance. Please come try a class!
Every summer since 1997, I have coordinated Yoga at the River's Edge for the North & South Rivers Watershed Association. We offer twice-weekly outdoor Gentle Yoga classes at beautiful locations along the North and South Rivers and their tributaries. Click below to learn more!
